Plans can change, and sometimes rental periods need to be adjusted. Here’s how to extend a rental or modify the dates.
Extending a Rental
Currently, there is no built-in function to extend an ongoing rental. To extend the rental, the borrower must:
Submit a new rental request for the additional days.
Wait for the lender's approval of the new request.
Pay for the new request.
Exception: Free Extensions
If the lender agrees to an extra rental day at no additional cost, there is no need to submit a new request.
Always confirm this agreement in writing using Fat Llama’s messaging system.
In this case, the lender should wait to mark the item as returned until it is actually returned.
Changing Rental Dates
To modify the rental dates, there are two options:
Cancel the existing booking and submit a new rental request with the updated dates.
Ask the lender to contact support, and Fat Llama can manually adjust the dates on the request.
Important Notes on Date Changes
If a paid rental is postponed without updating the system, it will automatically be marked as completed once the original rental period ends.
To avoid this, ensure the new dates are correctly updated in the system before the rental is marked as completed.
Support can update the rental dates, but this does not affect the rental price. If additional charges apply, the borrower must submit a new booking request for the extra days.
Respecting the Lender’s Decision
If the lender cannot accommodate an extension or date change, their decision must be respected.
If the rental needs to be canceled, review and follow the applicable cancellation terms.
