Step 1: Upload Your Documents
When you request a rental, we may ask for some or all of the following:
Photo ID: Passport or driving licence
Proof of address: A recent (within the last 3 months) bank statement, utility bill, or council letter
Proof of employment: A payslip or invoice dated within the last 3 months
Online presence: A link to your personal or professional website, or a social media profile
We store your documents securely, so you won’t need to upload them again for future rentals.
Step 2: Verification Assessment
Once your documents are uploaded, our verification system gets to work. It checks multiple data points—such as your submitted ID—to assess your eligibility to rent on Fat Llama.

How Long Does Verification Take?
Most verifications are quick and automated. If a manual review is required, it can take:
Typically: Up to 30 minutes
In exceptional cases: Up to 24 hours
If you’ve rented before, the process is usually even smoother.
What Affects the Timing?
Several factors influence how long verification takes:
How quickly you upload the required documents
Whether you're a first-time or returning borrower
The value of the item—higher-value rentals may require more checks
You can track your verification status on your booking page.
Why Isn’t My Booking Verified Yet?
If your booking is still awaiting verification, it could be due to:
High demand
The need for additional information
Keep an eye on your booking page to track the status of your verification. It will show where you are in the process and highlight any actions we’re waiting on from you—so nothing gets missed and your verification can be completed without delay.
In a Hurry?
If you're in a situation where you need the item urgently and decide to make alternative arrangements, you have the option to cancel your booking before verification is complete. In that case, you’ll receive a full refund.
However, once your booking is verified and confirmed, our cancellation policy will apply—which may result in a reduced or no refund, depending on when you cancel.
