Electric Scooter rules

Legal Restrictions in the UK

Electric scooters are classified as 'powered transporters' by the UK government, meaning they are technically illegal to ride on public roads and pavements. You can only use them on private land unless you are in a designated trial area for rental e-scooters.

Lender Guarantee for Electric Scooters

If an electric scooter is damaged due to clear misuse by the borrower, it is covered under our Lender Guarantee, provided all guarantee criteria are met.

Tyre Coverage Policy

  • As of August 24, 2020, flat tyres or punctures on pneumatic (soft) tyres are no longer covered by the Lender Guarantee.

  • Hard tyre punctures remain covered, as long as the guarantee criteria are met.

  • Lenders are responsible for maintaining their scooters, including keeping air-filled tyres properly inflated or replacing soft tyres with solid tyres.

Replacing Soft Tyres

If you’d like to switch to solid tyres, visit your nearest scooter retailer or purchase them online.
