The Do's and Don'ts of Being a Lender on Fat Llama
The Do's and Don'ts of Being a Lender on Fat Llama
Updated over 2 months ago

Fat Llama is a community-based platform, the heart and soul of which is Fat Llama is a community-driven platform built on individuals sharing items with one another, rather than large businesses renting to customers. To maintain a fair and respectful marketplace, both borrowers and lenders must adhere to certain standards of behaviour.

Below are some of the expectations for all of our lenders to follow:

Listing Your Items Accurately

  • DO ensure your listings are truthful and accurate, including details about the item and the handover location.

  • DO NOT spam the platform with multiple versions of the same listing to overshadow other lenders. This is unfair to both lenders and borrowers.

  • DO NOT list handover locations where you are not available or willing to meet. Changing the location after accepting a request is also not allowed.

❗ Misleading listings will be removed, and your account may receive a disciplinary flag.

Maintaining Your Items

  • DO keep your items in good condition by performing routine maintenance and upkeep.

  • DO inspect items before and after rentals. (Check out our article on Lender Guarantee criteria for best practices!)

  • DO NOT neglect item maintenance, as this could affect their performance during rentals.

Booking Rentals Properly

  • DO ensure all rentals are booked and completed through the Fat Llama platform.

  • DO NOT hand over an item before the rental has been verified by Fat Llama.

  • DO NOT accept cash payments for rentals outside the platform. This is considered Fee Avoidance and may result in fines, suspension, or removal from the Fat Llama community.

πŸ’‘ Renting outside the platform also voids the Fat Llama Guarantee, leaving both you and the borrower unprotected if issues arise.

Interacting with Borrowers

  • DO communicate with borrowers in a respectful and professional manner.

  • DO NOT engage in discrimination, name-calling, or any form of disrespectful behaviour towards borrowers or Fat Llama staff.
