Updated over 2 weeks ago

At Fat Llama, we’ve got your back! We know accidents happen, which is why you’re covered for accidental damage or loss during your rental period. Rent with confidence, knowing you won’t be out of pocket if something unexpected happens.

What’s Covered?

If an item you rented is accidentally damaged or lost while you’re using it, Fat Llama will cover it—up to:

  • £25,000 (UK)

  • $30,000 USD (US)

  • $40,000 CAD (Canada)

Covered incidents:

  • Accidental damage – Unintentional damage while using the item as intended.

  • Accidental loss – If an item is lost during the rental period due to circumstances beyond your control.

Important: You must use the item responsibly. If negligence is involved, you may be held liable for damages.

What’s Not Covered?

Fat Llama’s coverage does not apply in these situations:

  • Negligence – Forgetfulness, carelessness, or improper use of the item.

  • Unauthorized use – Using the item in a way it wasn’t intended for.

  • Third-party involvement – Lending or subletting the item to someone else.

  • Late returns – Failing to return the item on time may affect coverage.

  • Unverified accounts – Only fully verified borrowers are eligible.

What Should I Do If an Item Gets Damaged or Lost?

If an accident happens:

  1. Contact the lender immediately and let them know what happened.

  2. The lender submits a claim to Fat Llama.

  3. We review the claim and, if eligible, cover the repair or replacement costs.

Providing clear details and photos (if applicable) can help speed up the process.

If You Have Your Own Insurance

If you have personal insurance, you’ll need to claim through your provider first. If your claim is denied, Fat Llama’s coverage can step in—but you’ll need to provide written proof of denial from your insurer.
